Who Governs Pubic High School Interscholastic Sports?
Pocantico Hills Interscholastic Athletics (Modified) are governed by NY State Public High School Athletic Association rules. As per the NYSPHSAA Map, we are in Section One. The Section is split into three leagues: Conference I, II and III. We participate in Conference III, which also has a set of rules to which we must adhere to.

How, When and Where Can I Register for Sports?
-
What are the Required Forms Needed to Play Modified Sports
Student athletes are required to have a physical on file with the school nurse and it must be updated once a year. The school physician will be on campus each season to conduct any needed physicals or parents can select to use their child’s primary physician (but the results must still be provided to the school nurse). Players are required to have signed copies of the health forms and parent permission forms signed by a parent or guardian to participate. Links to the required forms can be found below.
-
What are the Player Eligibility Requirements
Proper registration is required for all athletes in grades 7 and 8 that wish to participate. Once on a team, NYSPHSAA requires athletes to complete a certain number of team practices to be considered eligible for scrimmage and contest participation.
-
What are the Time Requirements for Practices and Contests
Practices are held after school for modified sports. The practice sessions are usually 5 days a week for approximately 2 hours per session.

Does the District Provide Transportation for Games and Practices?
The district provides a late sports bus at 5 pm to provide student athletes a ride home after practices. If a student needs a ride home after a game, this option is available with prior planning with the coach, Athletic Director, and the transportation department. The district has also committed to provide transportation home from games and practices for student athletes participating on a merged team at one of our partner schools.
